Due to changes in the telecommunication industry, BT are undertaking a major infrastructure change to move all its domestic and business customers to internet-based voice calls using the BT broadband network.
This means that the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN), which has been BT’s traditional telephone network in the UK will need to be recycled.
We have been working with our extensive network of Approved Authorised Treatment Facilities (AATF) to support BT in examining the options for recycling its PSTN to ensure it is managed in a way which is cost effective, ethically sound, sustainable and supports a ‘circular economy’ approach whereby resources are fed back through the cycle and can be used in the production of new items.
