European Parliament one step closer to final adoption of PPWR

On 26 November, 2024 European Parliament gave its tacit approval of the new regulation by adopting all 24 official EU languages into the final version of the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR).

 
The new regulation is expected to come into force at the beginning of 2025 following its publication into the Official Journal of the EU in the coming weeks. Organisations can expect its application begin to apply after a transition period of 18 months, with the regulation also containing several provisions with differing transition periods becoming binding later.

As representative of all Member states’ governments, we can expect an endorsement by the Council as the final step towards adoption of the new Regulation.
