We are working with a wide range of organisations such as charities, reuse organisations, housing associations, waste management companies, recyclers and councils.
This joint working approach led to our partnership with the South Tyne and Wear Waste Management Partnership and Groundwork, which in 2016 was awarded funding to increase WEEE recycling in the region.
The project out-performed its target of raising awareness of WEEE recycling and increased the volume of WEEE collected by 9.6% through activities such as road-shows, amnesty days, collection trials and working with schools.
This work led to the partnership being short-listed for Best Public/Private Partnership in the Local Government Chronicle Awards 2018!
