Our Commitment to the Environment

We are committed to environmental sustainability and take continuous steps to improve our performance and impact on the environment, and give our customers confidence that we are a responsible business.

Environmental Policy

We are certified to ISO 14001 and have a robust environment policy which you can download here.

An important element of our activities is not only ensuring that we minimise our impact on the environment but that we also minimise the environmental impact of our subcontractors. To address this we have achieved PAS 2060, a carbon neutral standard. Where we have measured and offset the company's carbon footprint including the mileage undertaken on our behalf by our subcontractors for the recycling of packaging, WEEE and batteries. For our 2016 footprint, we invested in the Suzhou Qizi Mountain Landfill Gas Recovery Project. The project involves installing landfill gas extraction equipment and utilising the recovered gas to generate electricity at Qizi Mountain landfill in Jiangsu Province, China. The project meets the requirements of the Gold Standard for emission reduction projects. More details can be found here.

Having ISO 14001 and PAS 2060, along with other initiatives, means that we have a robust framework in place to monitor our environmental performance and impact, and allows us to demonstrate that we are committed to a process of continuous improvement.

Carbon Emission Control

We audit our employee commuting habits annually through questionnaires; to reduce mileage for commute many of our employees work from home frequently. We ensure that all our company vehicles are below 100g//km, in addition we purchase carbon offsets to balance out our carbon footprint.

We offer a number of webinars that cover all our services so members don't have to travel to every event they wish to attend.
We also hold regional forums in a variety of locations across the country so that members can attend the most convenient workshop to them and avoid unnecessary travel.

Waste Regulation

We have focus on waste reduction, reuse and recycling activities at our offices, allowing us to achieve zero waste to landfill in a variety of ways including:

  • Sending organic waste to our on-site wormery
  • Providing receptacles to collect used batteries and waste electricals / electronics
  • Removing all litter bins from desks to encourage waste minimisation

Energy Regulation

We have also been focusing on energy reduction at our offices using various methods including:

  • Installing solar panels
  • Replacing our lights with energy saving alternatives
  • Energy reduction targets set in place

All the actions we have implemented on energy reduction in our offices have decreased our consumption by about 30% over the past 5 years.
